Semi-tractor crash near Bowden

UPDATE (11:26 a.m.) – RCMP advise that the northbound lanes of the QEII Highway have reopened at Highway 587.

RCMP were dispatched to the incident at 5:50 a.m. The Bowden Fire Department EMS and Main Roads were also dispatched to the scene.

The driver of the semi-tractor was assessed by EMS at the scene and found to have no injury.

The semi-tractor driver was issued a violation ticket for failing to maintain the center of lane under the Traffic Safety Act.

RCMP and other emergency responders are on scene at a collision involving a semi-tractor on the QEII at Highway 587, northbound.

Police say the semi-tractor has gone into the centre median and crews are currently removing it from the highway.

The driver and lone occupant was not injured. No other vehicles were involved.

Traffic is being re-routed northbound onto Highway 2A at Highway 587. RCMP say traffic is expected to be re-routed for several hours. Motorists are asked to slow down in the area and watch for, and be cautious of Emergency Crews on the highway.

An update will be provided once the semi-tractor has been removed and traffic resumes in the northbound lanes of the QEII.
