Dr. Hinshaw shares COVID-19 update for June 8

Jun 8, 2021 | 3:19 PM

Alberta’s chief medical officer of health is set to provide her latest update on the COVID-19 situation in the province.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw will speak during a news conference scheduled for 3:30 p.m. You can watch the news conference below once it begins.

Monday’s COVID-19 numbers can be found here.

Alberta Premier Jason Kenney said Tuesday the province is noticing there is less demand from people for a first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

He says that could lead to a longer wait for the province to fully reopen.

Kenney says there are 100,000 bookings over the next seven days, but 115,000 more people need to get their first shot to hit the 70 per cent threshold to reopen two weeks later.

He says people who have been holding back from getting a vaccine should consider getting one now.
