‘Reasonable’ consumption of alcohol in Lacombe city parks to be discussed
A Lacombe city councilor is curious to find out how much community support their might be for allowing the responsible consumption of alcohol in city parks during the pandemic.
Jonathan Jacobson brought forward the idea as an ‘emerging item’ during council’s regular meeting on Apr. 26. As a result, the idea will be discussed as an agenda item during an upcoming Council Committee meeting on May 3.
Jacobson told council on Monday, it’s an idea he’s been contemplating for quite some time already.
“I think it should be discussed in a council committee format to allow for a much more free exchange of ideas on the topic,” said Jacobson. “I think at the very least, citizens deserve us to have a conversation about it and know exactly where council sits on that. So then of course, us councilors too can have that discussion when it comes up, which I think undoubtedly will if we’re locked down into the summer.
