Pair charged with murder after incident on Ermineskin Cree Nation

RCMP say charges have been laid in connection to a homicide at Mawkwacis.

It was just after 6 a.m. on April 11, according to police, when they responded to a call about a stabbing at a home at Ermineskin Cree Nation.

Maskwacis RCMP attended along with emergency medical services, who treated a 51-year-old male suffering from stab wounds. He was taken to hospital for treatment before passing away April 15.

Further investigation determined that the victim, identified as Albert Dean Wildcat, was injured during a home invasion involving multiple suspects.

Two men, Leon Clark Ermineskin, 25, and Justin James Larocque, 33, were arrested April 25 and charged with several counts including second-degree murder. They remain in custody and are to appear in Wetaskiwin provincial court April 17.

The RCMP investigation into the homicide continues.
