1946 ~ Mrs. Janet ‘Faye’ Porter (nee Dancey) ~ 2021 "She loved music, literature, history, travelling and made a mean margarita".

Mrs. Janet ‘Faye’ Porter (nee Dancey) beloved wife of Mr. Lyle Porter (predeceased) of Red Deer passed away peacefully, at Bethany Didsbury, on Monday, March 29, 2021 at the age of 74 years. Faye was born on May 22, 1946 at Tisdale, Saskatchewan and grew up in Star City, Saskatchewan. She was deeply connected to her family, community, and school. After graduating as the Valedictorian of her High School Class, Faye’s early pursuits included time as a telephone operator; as well as a year of training at Nursing School. On May 14, 1966, Faye married the love of her life, Lyle. Shortly afterward, she pursued a career as a teacher.Lyle and Faye lived in many places but settled to raise their young family in Red Deer in 1975. Faye dedicated twenty-three years to caring for and selflessly working with special needs students at Parkland School. She took a sabbatical from teaching to be a founding owner of Victoria Lane Brides on Gaetz Avenue from 1991 -1999. She loved music, literature, history, travelling and made a mean margarita. She loved her family deeply, and her children and grandchildren are her greatest legacy. Faye will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her two daughters, Haeley (David), Paige (Kevin), her son, Vance (Tamara), andher seven grandchildren, GreydonGinter of Vancouver and Tori Ginter of Red Deer, Ella, Cai, and Talia Challoner of Olds, Noah and Lauren Porter of Calgary. She will also be sadly missed by her three brothers, Jim (Donna) Dancey, Don (Vivian) Dancey and David (Anna) Dancey, all of Saskatchewan and her brother-in-law, Selby (Annette) Porter of Calgary; as well as numerous other family and friends. Faye was predeceased by her parents, Earl and Flora Dancey, her husband, Lyle and her mother-in-law, Mary Porter. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Bethany Didsbury for the years of loving care and attention that they provided to Faye. A Celebration of Life will be held later in Star City, Saskatchewan. Interment will take place at the Star City Cemetery, Star City, Saskatchewan; where Faye and Lyle will be together again forever.
