Green Cart returns to weekly collection next week

Mar 31, 2021 | 3:01 PM

Starting Monday, April 5, Green Carts in Red Deer will shift back to weekly collection as seasonal yard waste increases.

“Now that spring is here and people will start doing more yard work, we are shifting back to weekly Green Cart collection,” said Janet Whitesell, Waste Management Superintendent for The City of Red Deer.

“These seasonal changes in the Green Cart collection schedule supports increasing the efficiency of the cart collection program, while still meeting the collection needs of our cart customers.”

Spring yard work often means additional organic material. Residents are reminded that if their Green Cart is full, extra yard waste can be set next to the full Green Cart for collection.

Place the extra yard waste one metre away from any cart in a paper yard waste bag, loose in a garbage can or small branches can be bundled and tied with string.

Residents are encouraged to sign up for Cart Collection Alerts through Notify Red Deer for personalized reminders about which carts to set out each week. They can sign up or add these alerts to their existing account at www.reddeer.ca/notifyreddeer.

Printable cart collection calendars are available online at www.reddeer.ca/carts.

Questions or concerns can be answered by calling the Blue Line at 403-340-BLUE (2583) or emailing carts@reddeer.ca.
