It is with extreme sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Ron Willick on March 16, 2021 at the age of 67.
Ron was born in Calgary and grew up on a dairy farm in Springbank. He spent his summers in Jumping Pound with friends and family, riding, swimming, and checking fences. In 1978, he married Colleen Reilly who he remained married to until his last day. Together they raised three amazing children, which were what he was most proud of in his life. His true pride and joys; Chelsey Tucker (Chad), Kristy Willick, Joel Willick (Cassondra). Ron was a car guy and will be remembered by many as such. It all started when he talked his mom into buying a 1970 440 six pack Charger. The 70’s was a decade full of hot rodding, racing and cars. He took a couple of decades off racing to help raise three children and run cattle in Jumping Pound but always had a project car. Ranching in Jumping Pound with Ron’s mother is where they made many fond memories with their children, just as he had done as a child, until they moved and settled in Sundre in 1997. The kids grew up and moved out but stayed close (making their parents very happy). The racing started back up somewhere around 2008 with a 1968 Hemi Dart, that he and Joel put many, many hours into. At the same time, him and Colleen spent a lot of time driving their Viper to many Viper meets all around North America, making new car friends along the way. Ron and Colleen spent many summers at Mara Lake at their summer home. The cars always came along so he was able to hit some BC races, but his favourite part was when the kids were able to come and spend time with them on the lake. Throughout those years in Sundre, Ron and Colleen ran cattle and raised reining horses, so needless to say with a reiner, a jumper, and a hockey player, they were busy times. Life slowed down as the kids started their own lives and blessed Ron and Colleen with six beautiful grandchildren, Blaise and Jhett (Chelsey), Sophia and Trace (Kristy), Cooper and Ellie (Joel). Fast cars and grandchildren were everything. He was always there for all of them in a heartbeat, to help out, whether it be picking kids up from school, changing a light bulb or being the general handyman. Ron could spend hours talking to anyone about cars and spent his last years doing exactly what made him happy, spending time with his family and working on his cars. Ron had a good life. He loved with all his heart and was loved by many (often known as a big teddy bear). He was a kind soul and will be sadly missed.
