Mrs. Florence Audrey Black passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Sunset Manor, Innisfail, Alberta at the age of 93 years. She was born on September 12, 1927 in Innisfail, the ninth of ten children born to George and Myrtle Fisher. Florence grew up in the Aberdeen District, east of Innisfail. She married Stewart Black, of the Horse Lake District on November 26, 1947 and enjoyed sixty-two years by his side, before his passing, in October of 2010.¬¬¬ At the time of her passing, Florence and Stewart’s family had grown to include three children, seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Florence and Stewart raised their family in the Bowden Area; while he worked at the Bowden Penitentiary, before moving into Innisfail, in 1976. As a dedicated member of many community groups, Florence could often be found working at Bingo, delivering Meals On Wheels, volunteering at the Rosefield Centre, and helping others wherever she could. She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star and was named Innisfail’s Citizen Of The Year in 2002. Her outstanding service and commitment to the Innisfail Legion, and Ladies Auxiliary, earned her Lifetime Membership status, with both the Legion and the Ladies Auxiliary. In the winter, Florence could be found cheering for the Red Deer Rebels, and in the summer, she could be found enjoying time her with family and friends, at the Clear Springs Campground. Florence will be lovingly remembered by her son, Richard (Evelyn) Black of Innisfail and their sons, Stephen (Carrie) and Darren (Alison), her daughter, Denise (Tom) Barr of Calgary and their sons, Alex (Courtney), Kyle (Katelyn) and Trent (Chelsea) and her daughter, Kelly (Mike) Buxton of Cochrane and their children, Justin (Courtney) and Christy (Curtis) Barry and her thirteen great grandchildren, Colten and Maddie, Mya, Abby, Milanne and Xander, Sarah and Hannah, Teagan, Peyton and Aspen, Audrey and Kathryn; who all brought a smile to her face, whenever she saw them. Florence will also be sadly missed by numerous nieces and nephews. Florence was predeceased her husband, Stewart, her parents, all nine of her sibling, her sisters, Ruth (Bill) Lalor, Lilly (Charlie) Lalor, Edie (Art) Laing, Coralie (Norman) Hagg, Myrtle (Syd) Quartly and Bernice (Frank) Boon, and her brothers, Morley, Jim and Gilbert Fisher. The family would like to thank the staff at Sunset Manor for the compassionate care they showed Florence, while she was a resident. A Private Family Graveside Service will be held in the Field of Honor, Innisfail Cemetery, Innisfail, Alberta.
