Calgary energy company fined for blocking site inspection

A Calgary company has been ordered to pay $80,000 because it didn’t allow Alberta Energy Regulator crews to inspect one of its sites.
Land Petroleum International was found guilty in provincial court for violating the Oil and Gas Conservation Act.
Officials at the regulator say inspectors tried to get into a natural gas facility in Ponoka several times, but the company’s president Bill Fung told them they couldn’t go in.
The regulator says that prevented them from ensuring safe and environmentally responsible energy development.
