Robert passed away with family at his side on February 21, 2021 at the age of 76 years in Rimbey Long Term Care where he had resided for the last year. Bob was born in Regina, Saskatchewan. He was a long haul trucker which he enjoyed seeing the country, also reading books, watching sports, playing crib, and giving all his grandkids and friends the biggest hugs that he could give. When Bob retired he was happy and enjoyed to volunteer at The Lion’s Club and Royal Canadian Legion in Caroline, Alberta. Bob is survived by his life long companion of 37 years, Gwen Nielsen; nephew Boyd Penner; stepchildren Arlene Brown, Barbara Lindsay, and Jesse Redsky; grandchildren Robert (Misty) Lindsay, Cory Lindsay, Chris Lindsay, Kyle (Meaghan) Saum, Kayseas Redsky, and Dakota Redsky and 11 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers Ken and Wesley Penner, and his adoptive parents William and Mabel Penner. Grampa Bob’s family would like to thank the staff of Rimbey Long Term Care. He loved it there and the family appreciate the care received by the staff and all the doctors. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation or Canadian Diabetes Association.
