Mr. Ken Alvin Mr. Ken Alvin Severtson passed away on February 1, 2021 at the age of 80 years. He was born to Ruth and Severt Severtson in Lethbridge, Alberta. He moved from Enchant to Innisfail at the age of four. He attended grade school in Innisfail and then moved to Red Deer to complete high school at Lindsay Thurber Composite High School.
As a youngster, Ken spent summers in Enchant in southern Alberta at his grandfather Severtson’s farm. He always felt a connection to this area and recently took a family road trip to Enchant and Waterton where he shared many stories with us along the way. He spent a wonderful day visiting landmarks from his past and shared an amazing evening with the Howg family. We then met up with the Severtson side of the family that treated us to a beautiful boat ride on Waterton Lake. He spoke of this trip often and as a family we will always treasure him sharing these pieces of his life with us.
Ken married Carol Radomske in 1964, and with very little knowledge of farming, began dairy farming with his brother Gary. He would later go on to build a successful farming operation with his son Warren. He felt so blessed to have all of his children close by. Warren (Shelly) Severtson, Gayle (Gord) Tulk, and Wendy (Mark) Breese. He found true joy in watching his grandchildren grow into adulthood. Jori (Justin) and Jayde (Nadine) Severtson and Emily and Jeff Tulk. Life continued to bring him blessings with the recent arrival of his great grandson Everett Kenneth Severtson.
Ken loved all sports especially hockey. He played and coached hockey for many years. He had so many wonderful memories of those days, and always made us laugh retelling them. He was an avid sports fan and loved watching his grandchildren compete in many different sports in his later years.
Ken also loved to fish and camp, and as a family we spent many summers on the lake. His father Severt was an avid fisherman, and the love of the sport has been passed down to many in our family. Ken loved the peace and tranquility of being on the water with friends and family. He had many fishing stories to share with everyone.
He also made a lot of wonderful friends in the farming community. He loved to travel around the countryside looking at crops and livestock, and especially visiting with neighbors and friends. Mr. Ken Alvin Severtson
Ken loved living in the country. You would often find him and Carol relaxing on the deck enjoying a sunrise or sunset. They loved telling us all about the wildlife they would see. We will miss driving up the lane way seeing him sitting on the deck enjoying the view.
Ken and Carol took many trips together throughout their marriage and they both enjoyed talking to people from different parts of the world. They made many friends where ever they went.
Ken was proud of his Norwegian heritage and along with his siblings he was happy to keep alive traditions such as lefsa making. He often recalled as a young boy helping his mother make lefsa. Every December his children and grandchildren would drop by and participate in rolling or flipping lefsa.
Ken is also survived by his sister Audrey (Jack) Daines, brother Dale (Glenda) Severtson, brother Gary and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Ken was predeceased by his baby daughter Angela and his parents Ruth and Severt Severtson and sister-in-law Bev Severtson.
We would like to thank Jan at Innisfail Medical Clinic for helping Ken navigate his medical care and Dr. Adam Hrdlicka for all of his help and friendship to Ken. Also, a huge thank you to Tony and Brent and the Innisfail Pharmasave staff.
