Michaela Attlay-Foster

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our amazing and beautiful wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt and dear friend Michaela Attlay-Foster. Michaela passed away peacefully on February 5, 2021 at the age of 54 surrounded by her loving husband and her family.
Michaela was born on May 25, 1966 in Swansea Wales, UK. Michaela spent her childhood and young adult years in Wales, where her daughter Brogan Jayne Attlay was born. Micheala and her daughter immigrated to Canada in 1998 to be closer to their family.
Michaela was a joyous soul with an infectious laugh and sense of humour. Her love, kindness and generosity knew no bounds. Michaela had a true zest for life and always found the joy and the silver lining in all she experienced. Whether she was behind her camera or driving her special needs kids on her school bus, she found joy in all she did and accomplished.
Michaela knew only one way and that was love and kindness. Kala’s greatest passions besides life itself were her husband, children, family, friends and her pets (Wilson and Grace). Always ready to lend a hand wherever and whenever needed. Michaela loved many things in her life: photography, cooking (Kala’s love language), entertaining, mowing the grass on her riding mower, wine on the deck, camping and spending time with family and friends most of all. Did I mention she loved red wine. Michaela once told me that laughter was her best medicine and she wished she could bottle that feeling and take it everywhere she went. You succeeded, my angel.
Michaela was a rare and genuine treasure who will be deeply missed and never forgotten by those who knew and loved her. You are free now, our beautiful angel, fly high and rest easy. We will all see you on the other side our Welsh Dragon.
We would like to extend our appreciation to the doctors, nurses, Homecare staff and our friends and neighbours for their support, compassion and love during Michaela’s journey. Thank you so much.
Michaela is lovingly remembered by her husband Greg Foster, daughter Brogan Attlay, son David “Shae” Attlay, mother Gina Attlay, sister Kerry Richards (Gary), nephews Sean Stewart (Marlene, Isiah) and Conor Stewart (Amy), niece Bryony Brown (Kyle), great-nieces Wren and Lyra Brown, extended family Aunt Gerry, Lisa Thorpe, Dawn George, Kal and Rob Stillings, Sarah and Andy Norris, and many other friends and neighbours both near and far. Michaela was predeceased by her father David Atllay of Wales, UK.
There will be a private celebration of life for Michaela at a later date once Covid restrictions are lifted.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Variety Alberta, The Children’s Charity, 1517 – 246 Stewart Green SW, Calgary AB, T3H 3C8; or online here.
