RCMP lay second-degree murder charge in Maskwacis death

An 18-year-old male from the Maskwacis area has been charged with second-degree murder.

RCMP share that on Dec. 9, 2020 at just before 2 p.m., members responded to assist EMS at a house on Ermineskin Cree Nation.

There, a female was found deceased, and appeared to have suffered visible injuries, RCMP say. Her identity is not being released.

Major Crimes were called into investigate, and on Jan. 15 members arrested Kaydence Clarke Roasting of Ermineskin. He was arrested without incident at his home.

Roasting has since been formally charged and remains in custody.

He will appear in Wetaskiwin Provincial Court on Jan. 28.
