It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Mr. Joseph Edwin ‘Joey’ Auger of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, at Calgary, Alberta on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at the age of 33 years. Joey was born May 28, 1987 at the Rocky Mountain Hospital. He attended school and Sunday school in Rocky and worked in the oilfield as a very young man. Joey loved to play hockey when he was younger and excelled at sports, including BMX trick riding and skateboarding. Unfortunately as an adolescent, Joey was diagnosed with schizophrenia and the onset of a battle with addiction. He lost that battle on December 22, 2020 due to an overdose. Joey will be very dearly missed by his mother, Lorrie Auger; his brothers, Jordan Marc and Jessie James Auger; his adopted sister, Chelsie Sharpe; his grandparents, Dave and Heather Emmons, and many members of extended family from both sides. A viewing for Joey will be held at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer at a later date, following the Covid-19 Government restrictions of only having 10 guests at a time. If desired, Memorial Donations in Joey’s honour made be made directly to the Safe Harbour Society at safeharboursociety.org. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com.
