It is with immense sorrow we announce the passing of Dennis Krill, after a courageous battle with cancer. He passed peacefully on December 19, 2020 surrounded by his loving family at the Red Deer Regional Hospital.
He was predeceased by his parents, Nickalas and Minnie Krill and nephew, Richard Bendall.
Left to honor his memory are his wife Pam, daughters Linsey (Mitch) and Michelle (Logan); grandchildren Nick, Paige, Liam, Eva and Johnny; siblings Robert (Donna), Lucy (Don) and Margaret (Bernie); in-laws Joan, Sandra (Cathy), Gerald (Wendy), Michael (Meryle) and Patty; Godparents Aunt Mary and Uncle Tony; as well as aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. And who could forget the fur grandbabies.
Dennis was born July 29, 1950 in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. He left home at the young age of 16 to pursue a life of adventure off the farm. As early as grade one he dreamed of becoming a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. In 1973, he was accepted for training into RCMP depot. In November of that year he graduated and attended his first posting in Coronation, AB. This began his 30 and a half year career with the RCMP, policing in numerous communities throughout Alberta.
Prior to his retirement in 2003, he was awarded the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Commemorative medal in recognition of significant achievements and distinguished service. Following retirement Dennis accepted a position as Director of Protective Services for the town of Sylvan Lake, AB which he held for six years. He never fully retired as he continued to hold various jobs to keep himself busy.
While posted in Fort McMurray, through friends and sports he met the love of his life and soul mate Pam. They were married in 1984, welcomed two beautiful daughters Linsey (1986) and Michelle (1988). In 2009 he welcomed his first grandson, Liam, who immediately became his “little buddy”. Their involvement in numerous activities together such as fishing, baking and visits to the golf course, cemented an inseparable bond.
His second passion was golf. Dennis enjoyed annual golf trips with “the boys”. He was a pass holder for many years at River Bend Golf Course, as well as serving on the Board of Directors.
Dennis volunteered for numerous organizations showing his exemplary commitment to supporting the communities he served. He loved any opportunity to mentor and support individuals around him.
Born in Saskatchewan Dennis bled green as a loyal Roughriders fan. This created many fond rivalries at family gatherings. Throughout the years Dennis cultivated a collection of green themed memorabilia.
Dennis’ strongest trait was his ability to engage with people. He created and maintained lifelong friendships, cherishing those people who became extended family members. Dennis always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye.
In light of COVID-19 restrictions, a celebration of life will be held at a later date, when family and friends can gather together. Donations can be made in memory of Dennis towards the Southern Alberta Myeloma Patient Society (SAMPS)
