Group working on detox centre for Rocky region

A delegation with the Grandmother Turtle Lodge Group Collective recently shared with Rocky Mountain House town council its short-and long-term vision for a detox, treatment and recovery centre in the region.

“Acute substance abuse dependency is extremely prevalent in Rocky Mountain House and Clearwater County as there is no 30-day safe withdrawal detox centre,” the delegation told council in its presentation.

The delegation shared that a culturally appropriate program is in place as part of their plan for those wishing for those components, as they say there is a strong link for successful reduction in recidivism by incorporating those Indigenous aspects.

They are seeking to rent a dedicated space to house approximately two people for initial project/program development.

Council asked town administration to help the group find a suitable office space to rent during the initial planning stages of the lodge.
