Markets Remain Focused on Prospects for U.S. Stimulus
Canadian and U.S. indexes declined on Monday as U.S. lawmakers still struggled to reach an agreement on coronavirus stimulus that would make a relief package possible ahead of the U.S. November elections. By Monday’s close, the Dow fell more than 400 points, the Nasdaq was off nearly 200, and the TSX surrendered 165 points.
And while the growing number of coronavirus cases in the U.S. and Europe have caused some concern for investors, the prospects of U.S. stimulus have essentially been the sole driver for N.A. markets this week.
