1931 ~ In Loving of Mr. Edward John ‘Ed’ Hrapinski ~ 2020

The family of Mr. Edward John ‘Ed’ Hrapinski sadly announce his passing at Apache Junction, Arizona on Monday, October 12, 2020 at the age of 89 years. Ed was born in Edmonton, Alberta on January 17, 1931, to Polish Immigrants, Hedwig (Biel) and John Hrapinski. He started school without much knowledge of English, but soon learned to read and write with proficiency. His passion throughout his youth was hockey. He traded rink duties (back in those days, the ice was cleared by boys and shovels!) for ice time and enjoyed the fast-paced sport, as a forward. He was invited to join the American Hockey League but with the recent accidental workplace death of his father, and his older brother away in the Service, he decided that he was better off at home, close to his Mom and Nan, the love of his life. They were married on July 26, 1952. In 1958, they adopted a son, Russell, then in 1962, adopted a daughter, Linda. Rodney, their third child and a complete surprise, arrived in 1964. Ed started with White Rose in 1960, which became Shell and finally, Parkland Industries (the unmistakable Refinery, near Bowden, with all the flags!). He retired when he was fifty-eight, two years following the death of Nan, and decided that Arizona would become his winter home. He enjoyed being able to play golf year round but became a “fair-weather golfer” after retirement. While wintering in Arizona, he met and married Jeanne Eveslage on November 13, 2004. Together, they enjoyed the Arizona sun in their Apache Junction home, and many years of travel and companionship, before Dad fell ill, in 2019. Ed will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Jeanne Eveslage, her children, Tom (Cynthia) Eveslage, Donny (Cindy) Eveslage, Mike (Jackie) Eveslage, and Joan (Mike) Ribich and families, Ed’s son, Russell Hrapinski, his daughter, Linda (Cam) Beaton, his grandsons, Ryan Beaton, JJ (Bridget) Beaton, and his one great grandson, Zeke. His lifetime friend and cousin, George Hrap, and cousin, Olga Hruday also mourn his death. Ed was predeceased by his first wife, Nan, in 1988, a son, Rodney in 1983, an infant granddaughter, Zenlee Beaton in 2016, an infant grandson, Edler Beaton in 2017, his only brother, Antoni Harper and his parents. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. George’s Catholic Church, 300E – 16 Avenue, Apache Junction, Arizona, United States on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 4304 – 49 Avenue, Innisfail, Alberta, with a date and time to be announced. Interment will follow at the Innisfail Cemetery, Innisfail, Alberta. The family would like to thank their relatives, friends and neighbors for their support. They extend a special thanks to Summit Hospice and Healthcare Services of Mesa, Arizona, for their tender loving care, support and guidance, that allowed him to pass peacefully at home. If desired, Memorial Donations in Ed’s honor may be made directly to Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church Building Fund, 4304 – 49 Avenue, Innisfail, Alberta, T4G 1M6.
