Alleged drug traffickers make court appearances

Both a trial and a sentencing will take place next month for two men who RCMP allege were extensively involved in drug trafficking throughout central Alberta.

Levin Gabriel Hill, 26, of Sylvan Lake faces 39 charges and will have a ten-day trial in Red Deer Court of Queen’s Bench starting Nov. 16.

Keegan William Robinson, 28, of Red Deer, faces 18 counts and is due to be sentenced in Red Deer Court of Queen’s Bench Nov. 30.

It was on June 21, 2018 when police arrested two individuals following a lengthy organized crime investigation in the Red Deer area that resulted in the seizure of five firearms and more than $250,000 worth of drugs and cash.

Project Rails was said to be a year-long investigation by ALERT’s Red Deer organized crime team into suspected drug trafficking.

Mounties say search warrants were conducted at homes in Sylvan Lake and Red Deer.

Over the course of the investigation, ALERT seized two handguns, two shotguns, an SKS rifle, a body armour vest, 1.2 kilograms of cocaine, 2.3 kilograms of cannabis, 2.3 kilograms of cannabis resin, 240 milliliters of cannabis oil and $39,000 cash proceeds of crime.
