Zenon Jan Matkowski

Zenon Jan Matkowski of Red Deer passed away at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary AB on August 15, 2020 at the age of 67 years. Zenon was born in Ogrodziska, Poland in 1953 and was raised in Grzymalin, Poland on a farm. Zenon earned a master’s degree in animal science. After university he went on to serve in the Polish Military for one year. Zenon and his family moved to Canada in 1983, following his dream and opened one of the largest wool plants in Canada. During his spare time, he was a member of a hiking club, had a passion for mushroom picking and also enjoyed biking and cross-country skiing.
Zenon will be lovingly remembered by his wife Marta Matkowski; son Mark Matkowski (Kelsey Hemmingway); daughter Patricia Matkowski (Michael Wilson); grandchildren Stratton Matkowski, Harry and Estelle Wilson; brothers Daunta (Raolecka) Matkowski and Edek Matkowski; sister Bronek Matkowski and mother Stanislawa Matkowski as well as a large extended family in Poland. He was predeceased by his father Marian Matkowski; brother Mietek Matkowski and sister Bronka Fisher.
