Lloyd Evan Zimmerman
November 11, 1933 – July 2, 2020
It’s with deep sadness we share the news of Lloyd’s passing on July 2, 2020 in Olds, Alberta at the age of 86 years. Born in Didsbury, Lloyd was oldest of three children. He spent his younger years in the Coburn district and left school at age fifteen to begin working. He worked on the seismic crew and then became one of the original partners of the White Rose Gas Station in Olds. In 1965 he traded his share of the gas station for a farm west of town. There, along with his wife Shirley (Katzell), he raised three children and built the farm that stands today. Over the years he had dairy cattle, a mixed herd with a good amount of Charolais cattle and always crop in the ground. Lloyd enjoyed spending time on the farm with his five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was always happy to visit with a neighbour and truly valued the lifelong relationships he had with them. Lloyd lived on and managed his farm until his last days, he took great pride in it. He leaves behind Shirley (Katzell) and his three children Ken (Shirley), Gordon and Brenda. His brother Dale Zimmerman. His grandchildren Jolene (Drew), Stephanie (Dennis), Cody (Mya), Brittani (Aaron) and Daniel (Megan). His great grandchildren Etta, Javen, Alyna, James, Rigg, Wesley and Alexandria. He was predeceased by his father Gottlieb, his mother Elsie (Enzie) and his brother Wallace. A graveside service will be held at Olds Cemetery on July 13, 2020 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Diabetes Canada.
