Red Deer man arrested for drug trafficking

The Red Deer RCMP Drug Unit has arrested and charged a city man found to be in possession of several illicit drugs for purposes of trafficking.

On June 18, police say 43-year-old Ronald Stephens of Red Deer was found in possession of three ounces of methamphetamine, one ounce of cocaine, two grams of fentanyl, cash and a .22 handgun. Photos of the seized items are attached.

Stephens faces 13 charges including:

• Three counts of possession of the purposing of trafficking;

• Seven firearms related charge;

• Possession of an illicit substance, LSD;

• Resisting arrest;

• Possession of the proceeds of crime.

“During this arrest, we seized a significant amount of drugs, equating to hundreds of hits from potential buyers,” said Sgt. Paul Glanville, Red Deer RCMP General Investigation Section. “The dedicated drug unit at the Red Deer RCMP works to remove illegal drugs from our city which often has trickle down effects for other crimes including property and person offences.”
