Rocky RCMP Report June 23- 29

This is a report released to the media from the Rocky Mountain House (RMH) RCMP giving a brief description of various crimes and call-ins, both solved and unsolved throughout the community between the dates of June 23- 29.

Not all crimes reported are listed in this report.

June 23

2:33 P.M. – Report of a van which had been stolen from a residence on the O’Chiese First Nation Reserve over 2 weeks ago. The vehicle had been recovered in Edmonton.

2:54 P.M. – Shed reported broken into at the RMH museum. The padlocks on back gate and shed had been cut but nothing was stolen as there was not any items of value stored in the unit.

9:56 P.M. – A vehicle was stopped by police after it was reported that the driver had stolen cash from a customer’s wallet at a local RMH convenience store. The suspect had also breached previous release conditions and the vehicle did not have any insurance.

June 24

00:06 A.M. – Police conducted a curfew check on an individual who is under 24 hr. house arrest. The male was not at the residence and thus a warrant is sought for his arrest.

2:08 P.M. – 1996 silver FORD Taurus stolen overnight from a resident in RMH.

June 25

1:43 A.M. – Overnight police conducted a curfew check on two individuals who were on curfew conditions on previous Release Orders. Neither person answered the door and thus warrants are sought for their arrest.

June 26

12:17 P.M. – Vehicle broken into overnight in RMH. Vehicle rifled through and a $5,000 engagement ring was stolen along with credit cards.

5:37 P.M. – Police attempted to stop a known female, on a 24 hr curfew, driving a car on the O’Chiese First Nation Reserve. She had fled but was located abandoned on the side of the road. The individual was arrested the following day at a nearby residence and charges are pending.

11:38 P.M. – Numerous reports received of a male “Dancing in the Rain” on Hwy #752. Police attended and located a very intoxicated male individual who had an outstanding arrest warrant from Whitecourt. He was subsequently arrested and brought before a Justice for a judicial interim release hearing.

June 27

2:45 A.M. – Call from campers on Abraham Lake advising a male was drunk and threatening other campers with a knife. Police attended and located the individual who was arrested and released later in the day after sobering up for a period of time.

9:03 A.M. – Garage door kicked in of a rental property in RMH. Nothing appeared to be missing.

2:24 P.M. – Shed broken into at residence in RMH.

4:14 P.M. – Report of death threats received by a resident of RMH. Under investigation

7:42 P.M. – 911 call of a person needing assistance after falling out of a canoe on Abraham Lake. Rocky Search and Rescue was deployed and rescued the individual who was taken to the hospital by EMS for evaluation.

10:08 P.M. – Call of 2 suspicious males walking around with open alcohol and trying to sell drugs out of their vehicle in RMH.

June 28

1:41 A.M. – Call of occupants going through a RMH fast food restaurant drive through with open liquor. Police located the parked vehicle and 3 intoxicated females nearby walking down the street. Warnings were given.

7:22 A.M. – 911 call of an abandoned burning house which had been previously burnt, on the Sunchild First Nation Reserve. The local fire department attended and put it out. The matter is under investigation.

12:01 P.M. – Complaint of an abandoned vehicle on TwpRd 38-0 in Clearwater County. Police attended and had the vehicle towed. It had been stolen from Calgary and had been involved in a “Flight from Police” incident in Innisfail, earlier in the day.

6:04 P.M. – Grey 2016 DODGE Ram stolen from a residence on Hwy #11A in Clearwater County.

8:12 P.M. – Red 2014 GMC Sierra stolen from the downtown area of RMH sometime in the last day.

June 29

9:25 A.M. – Police located a stolen licence plate on a car in RMH. The occupants ditched the car and while one passenger was arrested, the other two fled on foot. The vehicle had been reported stolen a few days prior. Alcohol and methamphetamine were located inside. Police continue to investigate.

12:07 P.M. – Report of a stolen vehicle overnight from a RMH residence. The vehicle was recovered the following day in Leslieville where one adult male was arrested on outstanding arrest warrants.

1:39 P.M. – B&E reported to a residence in Caroline overnight. A mitre saw, Dewalt air compressor, air-nailer, and a tool bag were stolen.

1:01 P.M. – Police initiated a traffic stop in RMH with an unregistered pickup truck. The registered owner of the vehicle was documented as being suspended. The driver fled from police but was located a second time and was eventually stopped after trying to flee a second time. The adult male was arrested, including for his outstanding arrest warrants, “flight from police”, and driving while suspended. He was released to appear in RMH Provincial Court in August.
