Sylvan Lake hotel set to become apartments
Sylvan Lake town council has given the go ahead for a waterfront hotel to be converted into apartments.
Plans are for the building at 5312 Lakeshore Drive to go from being a 28-unit hotel to a 16-unit apartment complex.
In recommending approval for the development permit, town staff told council that the proposed use for the site, which is located within the Water’s Edge area of the Sustainable Waterfront Area Redevelopment Plan, is similar to the residential uses listed within the current Lakeshore Direct Control District. They also explained that consideration for apartments as an acceptable use is being considered within the draft district for the area.
The proposed development contains seven one-bedroom suites and nine two-bedroom suites which would require 23 parking stalls. The site plan indicates 27 stalls are planned to allow for visitor parking as well.
