Doris Beatrice Davis (née Thaell)

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Doris Beatrice Davis (née Thaell). She passed away peacefully in the Innisfail Health Care Center May 21, 2020 at the age of 90 years, with her children at her side. Doris was born July 26, 1929, the youngest of Fred and Beatrice Thaell’s three children. She grew up in Fort Macleod – where her family owned a clothing store – and married her high school sweetheart, Jack Davis, on November 9, 1948. They soon after started to build their family as they moved throughout Alberta, calling many different communities home before retiring to an acreage north of Stony Plain. Doris loved life on the acreage, especially when family came to visit. She loved nothing more than to see her family enjoy her fresh baked pie or chocolate cake. She was a very proud Albertan and passed on her love for the “Jewel of the Rockies”, Waterton Lakes National Park to her children and grandchildren, who spent many summers camping with family and boating with Jack in “The Doris B”. Doris was pre-deceased by her husband Jack Davis, brother Ted Thaell and sister, Muriel Day. Although she is sadly missed, her legacy is celebrated by the large and loving family she grew: Her 5 children – Barb Davis (Ron) of Innisfail, Jackie Davis (Doug) of Water Valley, Cam Davis (Judy) of Calgary, Sharon Davis (Kerry) of Innisfail and Tracy Davis-McMillan (Don) of Innisfail. Her 12 grand children – Bobbi (Jeff), Jeff (Sarah), Stacey (Stephen), Lisa (Pablo), Josh (Kristen), Matt (Sarah), Rockland (Kristie), Lindsay, Bailey, Allison, Brandon and Khoal (Alyssa). And her 14 great-grandchildren – Jackson, Spencer, Claire, Tyson, Liam, Mia, Anela, Koa, Ralph, Louis, Bowen, Theo, Nate and Brynlie. She will also be lovingly remembered by her sister in law, Donna Montgomery and numerous nieces and nephews in which she had a special bond. We would like to thank the people in our community who made an effort to make Mom feel special: Shelley (her hair stylist), Tracy (her house keeper), Georgia (Home Hardware) and Carissa (Cuddly Cuts), just to name a few. Finally, we wish a very special thank you to the Acute Care unit of the Innisfail Health Care Center for the compassionate care that you showed our beloved mother during such a difficult time without her family able to enter the hospital to visit. A memorial will be held at a later date where Doris and Jack will be in their final resting place…together again in Fort Macleod, Alberta.
