COVID-19 recoveries in Alberta surpass 5,000

Alberta is reporting a total of 5,076 recoveries from COVID-19 as of Wednesday, an increase of 210 from Tuesday, while there are 1,211 active cases, a decrease of 150.

There remain 70 people in Alberta hospitals for COVID-19-related reasons, including 11 patients in intensive care.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta Chief Medical Office of Health, says that out of 4,072 new tests done over the past 24 hours, 62 came back positive to bring Alberta’s total number of COVID-19 cases to 6,407.

Alberta has now conducted 195,402 COVID-19 lab tests.

An additional two death were reported on Wednesday, bringing Alberta’s death toll from the virus to 120.

The number of cases in the Central zone dropped by one for the second straight day and now sits at 97.

In Red Deer, the number of COVID-19 cases remains unchanged at 37, including two active and 35 recovered.
