Alberta is reporting 126 new confirmed COVID-19 infections on Wednesday, bringing the total to 1,996.

There are no new virus-related fatalities as that total for the province remains 48.

Premier Jason Kenney said Alberta continues testing at a higher rate than other provinces. With 2,853 tests being completed in the last day alone, 82,534 Albertans have been tested for COVID-19.

There are currently 44 hospitalizations from COVID-19, including 10 in ICU.

“Those numbers have been stable for the last number of days,” Kenney noted, “and they continue to be well below AHS’ modelling that we presented a week ago.”

Due to an IT issue affecting the province’s testing lab, further information including updated case numbers for Red Deer and the Central zone won’t be available until Thursday.

Red Deer had 32 cases of COVID-19 as of Tuesday, while the Central zone as a whole reported 74.
