Local love in a global crisis

Mar 27, 2020 | 4:35 PM

United Way Central Alberta (UWCA), and the Red Deer and District Community Foundation (RDDCF) would like to announce that the application process for our new Community Response Fund is now open.

The fund is open to agencies serving vulnerable populations and is intended to assist with expenses that have suddenly arisen due to COVID-19. In some cases, agencies have seen demand for their services increase as much as 400 per cent.

A simplified application process has been developed by UWCA and RDDCF to make applying for support as easy as possible for agencies.

“Applications to the fund can be made through either the United Way website or the Community Foundation website,” says Brett Speight, CEO, UWCA. “Both sites will direct agencies to one common application process.”

In this time of crisis, collaboration in support of our most vulnerable is very important. The joint efforts of the Red Deer & District Community Foundation and United Way Central Alberta will ensure the process is easy for agencies and allows funds to get out quickly.
