Red Deer County adopts Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework with City of Red Deer
Red Deer County Council has approved a document that outlines how joint services it shares with the City of Red Deer are delivered, funded and implemented in both municipalities.
On Tuesday, council adopted by resolution an Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework (ICF) with the City of Red Deer, as per the Municipal Government Act which requires all municipalities in the province that share a common boundary to adopt an ICF.
County officials say the framework contains a list of services currently delivered jointly by both municipalities, information on how services are delivered, funded and implemented, and a dispute resolution mechanism for resolving any issues between the two municipalities regarding the Framework.
County officials note representatives from both municipalities have met to discuss the proposed ICF and have agreed on the items included.
