Police investigating shooting near Innisfail park

Innisfail RCMP are investigating a shooting incident that took place Friday morning.

Police received a call at about 5 a.m. on March 6 for a shooting in the area of Cannon Park in the town’s south end.

Upon arrival, they learned that a female victim had already been taken to hospital by an unknown person, and that suspects had fled the area.

The area was secured by police so they could do forensic investigation.

The female victim, who sustained a gunshot wound, is in hospital and reported to be in stable condition. There were no other victims.

Mounties do not believe this incident to be a random attack, and therefore feel there is no risk to the public.

Police hope to release more information about the suspects in the near future, but have no other details to share at this time.
