Red Deer & District Community Foundation names new Executive Director

Mar 5, 2020 | 2:49 PM

The Red Deer & District Community Foundation has announced the appointment of Erin Peden as their new Executive Director.

Peden has been filling the role on an interim basis since August.

“Erin has worked with RDDCF since 2017 as the Grants & Administration Coordinator,” Patrick Malkin, Chair of the RDDCF Board said. “Her devotion to the Foundation and desire to learn the complicated aspects of Community Foundations were noticeable assets from the very beginning. We are confident Erin will have the skills, energy and desire to develop the continued impact our Community Foundation will have on Central Alberta.”

Originally from Saskatchewan, Peden started calling Alberta her home 24 years ago when she moved to Calgary to obtain a degree in Applied Communications at Mount Royal University.

Peden and her husband moved their family to Red Deer in 2014 so their youngest child could benefit from the early intervention services provided by Aspire Special Needs Resource Centre.

“We are very much at home in Central Alberta,” Peden said. “We chose to raise a family in this area because of the services, the people and possibilities it provides. It’s an honour to have the opportunity to get to know the donors and community members who are already invested in the Community Foundation and I sincerely look forward to connecting our philanthropists to causes and charities that strike a chord with them.”

The Red Deer & District Community Foundation (RDDCF) is a 360° grant maker that invests in projects, programs and organizations to build a stronger Central Alberta. Since 1989 the Foundation has granted more than $11.5 million to Central Alberta charities. As the Foundation wraps up its 30th year, the Board and Administration is committed to creating grants that make impact, recognize the district’s needs and provide community members with a way to support their chosen causes permanently.
