It is with great sadness that the family of Donald Arthur Page announce his passing on January 20, 2020 at the age of 95.
Don Page was born in Calgary, Alberta on December 9th, 1924 to Charles and Dorothy Page. Don lived most of his life in Calgary where, his first jobs were as a delivery boy for several drug stores in Calgary. He worked in a small air-craft parts factory before joining the Royal Canadian Airforce (RCAF) in Au-gust of 1943. He did his basic training in the British Commonwealth Air Train-ing Plan. He volunteered to work in the Auxiliary Services of the RCAF and was shipped overseas to England on June 17th, 1944.
He was eventually posted in Oldenburg, Germany with the 8402 Disarmament Wing of the RCAF until early 1946. He became a Leading Aircraftman and was discharged in August of 1946.
Don met Hazel Johnson at Picardy’s restaurant where Hazel was working in 1948. They were married in 1950 and had four children: Patricia Severson, Debra von Albedhyll, Charles Page and Donald Page.
Don worked in a lumber yard for several years as a truck driver before getting a job with the Calgary School Board as a caretaker and then later in the maintenance department.
Don and Hazel were some of the first volunteers for the Alberta Forest Service Campground Host Program. They spent two summers at Goldeye Lake near Nordegg. They also tried being snow birds by heading down to Arizona for a winter. They moved to Red Deer in 2008 to be closer to family.
Hazel passed in 2017 and they are both survived by their four children, 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Don was a kind, caring, loving man who brought joy wherever he went.
