Joyce Elizabeth Hilsabeck (1929 – 2019)
Joyce was born in 1929 to Rev. Sidney and Florence Waterman in Ponoka, Alberta. She grew up in Ponoka, Sexsmith, Lacombe, Medicine Hat, and Clive. As a young woman, she was a school teacher in Clive. Joyce married Norman Richard Hilsabeck in 1954, and they had six sons whom she was very proud of. Joyce volunteered in her church: teaching Sunday School, leading Bible Studies, leading youth group, and speaking for women’s groups. She also served as Sunday School Superintendent; she sang solos and prepared food for many occasions. In her later years, she prayed for over 300 people every day and she enjoyed attending the senior’s group in her church. Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Robert, Donald (Joan), Sidney (Eileen), Russell (Wanda), Alan (Marilyn), William (Sharlene), her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her brother Sidney (Pegi) Waterman, and sister-in-law, Sue Waterman. Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Norman Hilsabeck, her parents, Sidney and Florence Waterman, and her siblings, Dorothy Hanson and Ross Waterman. A Memorial Service will be held at Deer Park Alliance Church, 2960 – 39 Street, Red Deer AB, on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 1:00 p.m..
