Dec 10, 2019 | 2:15 PM

Mounties in Innisfail are thanking members of the public for their generosity during the 24th Annual RCMP Charity Checkstop held on Sunday.

Between 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., local residents helped raise a total of $12,279.50 in cash and cheques, in addition to six carloads of high quality toys and gently used clothing items for the Innisfail Christmas Bureau. As well, over 800 pounds of food was donated for the Innisfail Food Bank.

In this season of giving and celebrating, Innisfail RCMP say they are proud to provide as much help as they can to those less fortunate.

The charitable organizations that will benefit from the Charity Checkstop, include the Innisfail Food Bank, the Christmas Bureau, the Red Deer Women’s Outreach Society and the Youth Positive Assets Coalition.

Innisfail RCMP would like to thank the following local businesses for providing donations, including Nestle Purina, Innisfail Co-op, A&W, Dairy Queen, Subway, Tim Horton’s, McDonalds, Innisfail Bowling Lanes, Complete Catering, and the Innisfail Legion.

RCMP also acknowledge the numerous volunteers who made the event possible.

Those volunteers include representatives from the Innisfail Fire Department, Medavie Ambulance, Correctional Services Canada, Town of Innisfail, Town of Innisfail By-Law, Canadian Pacific Police, Christmas Bureau, Food Bank, Red Deer Women’s Outreach, Youth Positive Assets Coalition, Innisfail Rotary Club, Innisfail Restorative Justice, Innisfail local youth groups, and the local 4-H club.

RCMP also thank Donnie Hill for being the event’s Santa Clause, Janna Dahl for being Safety Bear, and Jim Seward (SOS Entertainment) for providing the Christmas Music.

Innisfail RCMP wish everyone a safe and joyous holiday season.
