It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Alexander ‘Alex’ Henry Valley in Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at the age of 78 years. Alex was born in the small Hamlet of Forget, Saskatchewan. He was raised by his mother, Ida Hanelt and father, Joesphe Valley on a farm with six brothers, and two sisters. Alex worked hard to support his family as an adult, and was self-employed for most of his life. Some of the businesses he owned were Valley’s Water Hauling and Shilo Ditching. Alex used his backhoe to dig the basement for the Presbyterian Church in Sylvan Lake. He also owned a Semi-Big Rig and hauled freight back and forth from Alberta to Vancouver. Alex’s hobbies included stock car racing with his brother, Joe; riding snowmobiles, ice fishing, bow hunting, riding his Harley with friends, and playing goalie for many years with the Senior Men’s Hockey Team. Alex was best known as a strong family man. When he divorced his first wife; he fought and won custody of his two girls, Wanda and Cheri. Alex raised them in Sylvan Lake with his new (and best) wife, Darlene Brooks. “Something the two girls are forever grateful for.” Alex was a fun loving dad which was great for the girls because he was unable to discipline them. He carried his great love for family over into his six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren; which he adored and could never get enough of. Alex’s Family was his greatest achievement and was what he loved the most, above all else in life. Alex will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Wanda Wilson of Leduc, Alberta and Cheri Vincent of Red Deer, Alberta, six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. He will also be sadly missed by his brothers, Joe Valley of Whitecourt, Alberta, Art Valley of Caroline, Alberta and Vic Valley; and sisters, Elma Kay of Lacombe, Alberta and Helen Stuble of Cranbrook, British Columbia. Alex was predeceased by brothers, David, Clifford and Lawrence Valley. Arrangements in care of Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer. 403.340.4040 or 1.800.481.7421.
