James Dean "Jim" Turner

It is with great sadness that the family of Jim Turner announces the sudden passing of their loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle on July 18, 2018. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his children: Kelsi Turner, Laine (Cheryl) Turner, and Leelund (Krista) Turner. His grandchildren: James “JR”, Nate, Cash, and Kacey. His siblings: brother, Gordon Turner and sisters, Joyce Nielsen and Barb Parker. Jim was born in High River, AB in October 1956 and passed away in Red Deer, July 18, 2018. He grew up on the family farm at Blackie, AB, spending his teen years as a member of the Gladys 4-H Beef Club. Jim was a farmer and his heart was in the dirt – he loved his cows and his garden. He spent well over half his life farming and even when he moved to town, he would spend his free time working cattle and helping friends with their farms. He also worked at the Bowden Correctional Institution in the Agricultural Division working with the inmates. Jim was passionate about rodeo. His early life was spent bull riding and for countless years he has worked at the Calgary Stampede, CFR, Daines Pro Rodeo, and many others. He also spent many years working at the Daines Auction Mart, sorting livestock for sales. Jim was a hardworking, quiet, loving, generous, and patient man who cherished his family and his grandchildren and friends. A funeral service will be held at the Deer Park Alliance Church, 2960 – 39 St, Red Deer AB on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.. Jim will be laid to rest in Red Deer.
