Ginter Unruh was born in Germany, May 30, 1945 and passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2018 in Red Deer, Alberta. Ginter took great pride in his career as a Concrete Mason and would often regale his family and friends with workplace stories. He was passionate about gardening, his dogs, and finding the perfect fishing spot. He enjoyed spending hours in solitude nourishing his garden, tinkering in his woodshop, listening to Elvis and Jan and Dean, or watching his beloved Calgary Flames on TV all the while shouting orders at the players, referees, and coaching staff. His love of woodworking translated into beautiful handmade toys for the children in his life whom he totally adored. He was known for his silly jokes, dry sense of humour, and good-natured teasing of all who had the pleasure of his company. He is survived by his daughters, Bonnie (Neal) Sanche and Rhonda (Chad) Cosby and, his grandchildren, Mary, Aedan, Oliver and Tessa, as well as his sister Hilda (Arnold) Porter, his brothers Dietrich (Shirley), Ulrich (Ulrike), and Erich (Wendy), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Julius and Charlotte, and a brother Wilhelm (Bill.) If desired, Memorial Donations in Ginter’s honour may be made directly to The Red Deer Food Bank at www.reddeerfoodbank.com. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com.
