Lydia Lenore Piel of Red Deer went to be with her Lord and Saviour on April 16, 2019 at the age of 83 years. Lydia’s first home was in Winnipeg, MB where she went to school and grew up to be a beautiful woman of strength, honesty and a love for her Lord. Lydia married the love of her life, Len, and moved to Saskatchewan so they could take up farming. She took on the role of supporting the farming life with her large gardens, meals to the field and raising her family. She also grew her own career becoming a top notch Tupperware lady. Lydia was very involved with their church supporting programs like the ladies groups, teaching Sunday School, and singing with Len. Then off to Alberta where they moved to the next stage of their life. They lived in a travel trailer for 12 years enjoying the various parts of the country wherever the trailer was parked. Lydia and Len then settled in Alberta where they enjoyed many more years together. She loved to crochet, do crossword puzzles, plan and prepare the most excellent of meals. Lydia’s joy was in seeing that her family was cared for and that they knew they were loved. Lydia is lovingly remembered by her spouse of almost 65 years, Len, children, Wendy, Jim (Kathy) and Sandy (Kevin); grandchildren, Chelsey (Nathan), Lindsey, Aaron (Shelby), Brandon and Brad. Also her brother, John (Gayle) and sister, Margaret; in-laws, Gayleen (Vic), Elsie, Rob and many nieces and nephews; cousins and friends. Lydia was predeceased by her parents, Gottfried and Ernestine; sister Erika as well as her son-in-law, Bill and grandchildren Greg and Mark.
