Mr. David Blair, a lifelong resident of the Delburne area, died unexpectedly from hypoxia due to an existing esophageal condition, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at the age of 69 years. David was born in Red Deer, Alberta on January 6, 1950, the only child of Bunn and Ivy Blair. He graduated from Delburne High School and went on to earn his Bachelor of Engineering Degree from the University of Calgary. He worked for Alberta Environment while also helping his dad with the family business, Delburne Bus Lines. He took over the school busses, driving bus and operating the business with his wife, Pearl, until 2001, while also building up a small farm. David will be remembered as an exceptional man whose intelligence was only exceeded by his kindness and thoughtfulness. His passion was traveling and his family. With a dozen or more projects always on the go, he was the consummate handyman and fixer. He loved running equipment, especially his backhoe, always finding something to build or fix, often with some very creative solutions. A teacher to all, he was always happy to lend a hand and provide guidance. David will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Pearl; their daughters, Kimberly (Jeremy) Shipley and Amanda (Rob Poggemiller); and his grandchildren, Emily and Austin. A Final Toast to David’s life will be made on Sunday, June 9, 2019 from 1:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. The toast will be held outdoors east of the shop (west across the highway from the Delburne Bistro). Please bring a lawn chair and be prepared for the weather. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in David’s honor may be made directly to the Red Deer Regional Hospital Foundation/ICU Unit at www.rdrhfoundation.com. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com.
