Mr. Victor ‘Vic’ Ivan Willoughby

With heavy hearts, we acknowledge the passing of Mr. Victor ‘Vic’ Ivan Willoughby at Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at the age of 82 years. Vic was born in High River, Alberta, on February 4, 1937 to Ruby and Walter Willoughby. He was raised on a farm near Gladys Ridge, attending school at Ridgeview School and Blackie High School. In his early years, Vic worked on farms, pipelines and drilling rigs before starting his careers with UFA Co-op Ltd, Big Red Industries, Williams Stationery, Central Equipment Rentals, Parkland Rentals and Beechwood Development. He very much enjoyed his volunteer activities and helped with School Science Fairs, 4H Clubs, Church projects, Cub Scouts, industry organizations, square dance club, service club (Kiwanis), and the Twilight Homes Foundation. Vic married Joyce Johnston on July 18, 1958; and they have four children, Kevin (Lynnette), Nola (Dave Power), Dean (Shauna), Todd (Kathy), nine grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Also left to mourn Vic are his siblings, Wes (Laurita), Jim, Tillie, Bob (Sue), sister-in-law, Joan and brother-in-law, Vic Gateman; as well as a large extended family and dear friends. Vic was predeceased by parents, Ruby and Walter Willoughby; a sister, Shirley and a brother, Charlie. A Celebration of Vic’s Life will be held at Sunnybrook United Church, 12 Stanton Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements in care of Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer. 403.340.4040.
