It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Susan Derbyshire on July 9, 2019 at the age of 72 years. Mom was born in Rose Valley, Saskatchewan, to Leon and Helen Mlynarski. Susan was raised in the Kelvington, Saskatchewan area, where she married and raised her own family. Susan and Don owned and operated Don’s Esso Service in Kelvington for many years, and Susan worked hard to run the business while also looking after her family. Susan and her family relocated to Red Deer, Alberta, where they have lived for many years. Susan was a respected business woman, and owned many businesses through the years. She enjoyed volunteering for the Red Deer Optimists, and the Red Deer Singles Club. Susan enjoyed music and dancing, and always looked forward to socializing with her many friends from the Singles club. Susan was very devoted to her family. She had a passion for baking, and was always trying out new recipes. Everyone looked forward to the various desserts and squares she would make and bring to our family events.
Susan was predeceased by her mother Helen Mlynarski, sisters’ Christina Kaye and Henrietta Phillips, and her son Alfred. Susan will be lovingly remembered by her sister Mary-Anne (Gus) Legace, and brothers’ Jesse (Darlene Shuya) Mlynarski and Stanley (Ila) Mlynarski; children Barry (Teresa) Derbyshire, Donita Derbyshire, and Cory (Michelle) Derbyshire, grandchildren Joel (Sarah), Jamie (Maria), Cara, Randi, Donovan, and Logan and great grandchildren Kinnin, Adelynne, and James, and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at Parkland Funeral Chapel, 6287 67A St., Red Deer, Alberta on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.
If desired Memorial Donations may be made directly to the Red Deer Optimist Club. Arrangements in care of Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer. 403.340.4040.
