Trevor Leigh Mitchell
April 1976 to July 2019
Age: 43 years
It is with devastated hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Trevor Leigh Mitchell.
Trevor was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick and lived in nearby Burtts Corner until about the age of 10. He then moved to Hamilton, Ontario with his mother and two brothers. When he was 17, Trevor relocated to Red Deer, Alberta. He later moved south to Calgary, where he resided until his passing.
Trevor started his career at a very young age. He attended Calgary’s Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, where he achieved a journeyman ticket in stonemasonry. He enjoyed his career and was known for his strong work ethic and providing comic relief to everyone who worked with and around him.
Trevor first became a father shortly after arriving in Red Deer. He would eventually become a father of five children, two stepchildren and another child who was like a daughter to him.
Trevor enjoyed camping and biking, both BMX and mountain. He enjoyed being out in nature, in a river or scaring people by jumping off bridges into rivers! He had a unique ability to make beautiful or functional works of art and furniture with anything he came across.
Trevor was a down-to-earth kind of guy who enjoyed social occasions with family and friends. He was also the type of person who could make a friend wherever he went. His antics were known to everyone who knew him.
Trevor had a soft side that he showed to the people he loved. He felt things deeply and acted with compassion. He was intelligent and witty and easy to talk to. He will be remembered with a smile and a laugh. We can all recall funny things he did or said, as he often got everyone laughing with his one-of-a-kind sayings and crazy antics.
Trevor is survived by his loving children Steven Mitchell, Ryley Mitchell, Brayden Mitchell, Dilion Mitchell and Gus Castle; Jade McDonald, sister of Steven and Ryley, whom Trevor thought of as a daughter; stepchildren Kurt and Autumn Castle; spouse Roberta Castle (mother of Gus, Kurt and Autumn); Jodi Miller, former spouse and oldest friend (mother of Steven, Ryley and Jade); and Lesley Dickout (mother of Bradyn and Dylan). He was predeceased by father Charles and brother Shawn.
Trevor passed away too young and he will be dearly missed by so many people. He was a major part of so many lives and he will never be forgotten. We love you, Trevor. We will see you again in heaven.
As per Trevor’s wishes, some of his ashes will go to New Brunswick to be buried next to his father and brother.
A Celebration of Life for Trevor Leigh Mitchell will be held on Saturday, August 10 at 3 p.m. at Jodi Miller’s place in Red Deer County. The property is located at 26509 TWP 390 and Range Road 265. Directions are as follows: From HWY 2, take 67th Street through Red Deer heading east. When you get to the end of 67th, there is a traffic circle. Take it through going east and then 67th changes into TWP 390. Stay on TWP 390 until you get to Range Road 265, and turn left onto the gravel. Travel for two miles and then turn left at the corner. The driveway is located on the left where there are flowerpots located at the start of driveway.
We are having the celebration in the spirit of camping, as Trevor enjoyed that activity so much. We will be having a potluck based loosely on a barbecue theme. After a small meal, a ceremony will take place with speeches, a slideshow and the planting of a memorial tree. People are encouraged to stay the night and camp, especially if they are choosing to drink around the fire. We have lots of room to set up a tent or trailer.
Condolences for the family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net. Arrangements in care of Meaningful Memorials Funeral Service, serving Red Deer and all of Central Alberta, 587-876-4944.
