Benita was born August 19, 1941 in High River. She grew up on a farm in Cayley, and attended High School in the Cayley – High River Area. She graduated from Holy Cross University in 1962, with a Degree in Nursing, and later went back to attend McGill University and University of Alberta, Edmonton, obtaining a Degree in Education. Benita had a powerful, resilient spirit, and was well-known for her ability to accomplish anything she set her mind to do. She served as both a Nurse and an Educator over a multi-faceted career.
