Mr. Willy Krusi passed away peacefully at his home, Red Deer County, Alberta, surrounded by his family, on Friday, November 8, 2019 at the age of 71 years. Willy was born in Gais, Switzerland on April 29, 1948, to Konrad and Anna Krusi, the youngest of five children. Willy lived and worked on his Dairy Farm and had a logging business in Switzerland. Willy spent twenty-eight years playing the euphonium for the Gais Brass Band. He married Sonja Sturzenegger in December of 1969 and had three children, Thomas, Willy and Manuel. Sonja lost her battle with cancer on October 21, 1980. Willy married Barbara Baumann on September 3, 1983 and they had three children, Stefen, Roland, and Daniela. In 1995, Willy, Barbara and five of the children moved to Wisconsin, USA; where they started an Organic Dairy Farm. In 1999, Willy, Barbara and their three children moved to Alberta, Canada; where he worked as a herdsman, first near Bentley, Alberta at the Alpine Dairy, and then near Innisfail, Alberta at Bar E Dairy Ltd. for eight years. He then became an Independent Contractor, as Willy’s Farm Relief Service. Willy enjoyed playing his euphonium with the Red Deer Golden Music Makers for the past five years. Willy loved to spend time with his cherished family and friends. Willy was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in 2010, and despite many different treatments; including two rounds of chemotherapy and a hip replacement, he found farming to be his sanctuary. Willy will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of thirty-six years, Barbara Krusi of Red Deer County, Alberta; their children, Thomas (Reni) Krusi of Eichburg, Switzerland, Willy (Megan) Krusi of Exton, Pennsylvania, United States of America, Manuel (Tracey) Krusi of Mandan, North Dakota, United States of America, Stefan (Kiersten) Krusi of Red Deer County, Alberta, Roland (Kaileigh) Krusi of Penhold, Alberta and Daniela (Dan) McSween of Red Deer County, Alberta; and his grandchildren, Brandon, Shania, Hayden, Sonja, Simone, Sybille, Hanna, Jacob, Adalyn and Colby. He will also be deeply missed by his siblings, Konrad Krusi, Hansruedi Krusi and Margrit Schoch; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, friends and neighbours. Willy was predeceased by his parents, Konrad and Anna Krusi, a brother, Walter Krusi, and his first wife, Sonja Krusi. A Celebration of Willy’s Life will be held at the Cottonwood Gordon Community Hall, 3005 Township Road 352, Spruceview, Alberta on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. The Krusi family would like to thank Dr. Miller and the Home Care Staff for their amazing support through such a difficult time.
