Abi-Gail Louise Gosselin passed away in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by her family and her beloved pets, in the evening hours, on Friday, November 15, 2019 at the age of 66 years. Abi-Gail was born on August 23, 1953 in Montréal, Quebec, to Patrice Gosselin and Irene White. She grew up in Kaspuskasing, Ontario with her sisters, Diane, Joanne, Louise, Ginette, and her brother, Joe. As the eldest, she used to love to spend hours playing and entertaining her siblings, with plays and reenactments of the Bonanza Series; making mud pies, and playing baseball. At the age of sixteen, Abi-Gail gave birth to her only child, Shawn-Ann. Although she was very young, she assumed the responsibilities of motherhood. She worked hard to provide a good life for her and her daughter. She was very well traveled across Canada. Abi-Gail raised her daughter mostly in the North; where she was one of the first women to drive an Eighteen Wheeler Truck in the Northwest Territories, on their Ice Highways; her code name was ‘Red Rooster’. In the Yukon, she staked claims and mined for gold. Abi-Gail was also a business woman and co-owned a Tavern; as well as owned and operated a Tanning Salon, where she was the only masseuse. Abi-Gail loved her grandchildren, Jordan Lee, Christopher and Terry. She had a big heart and was always very supportive of them. She also had a love for animals, and would often rescue those who were abandoned, or homeless. Unfortunately, Abi-Gail was diagnosed with Gallbladder Cancer on April 12, 2019. She endured a lot of pain and suffering. Abi-Gail had a love for life and fought extremely hard to live, never giving up on her faith. She really appreciated all the love and support that she received from her friends and family. She is now at peace, and pain free in her new glorified body; cancer free, and in her forever home, with her Lord and Savior. A Celebration of Abi-Gail’s Life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com. Arrangements in care of Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer. 403.340.4040 or 1.800.481.7421.
