Red Deer man charged in O’Chiese shooting to face prelim

A Red Deer man charged after woman was shot at the O’Chiese First Nation will face a preliminary hearing.

Blair Travis Saulteaux, 35, is charged with aggravated assault, six firearms counts and two counts of breach of probation. His preliminary hearing, which will determine whether there is enough evidence for the case to go to trial, is scheduled for January 13, 2020.

It was at about 8:30 p.m. on September 27 when police and EMS were called to the O’Chiese First Nation where a woman had been shot in the head. The 35-year-old woman was taken to hospital in stable condition. Police have shared no further updates on her condition.

O’Chiese First Nation is located about 140 kilometres northwest of Red Deer (about 65 km northwest of Rocky Mountain House).
