It was a tough weekend at home for the RDC Queens soccer team as they dropped a pair of ACAC matches.

The Queens dropped a 5-2 decision to the Olds College Broncos on Friday. Bronwyn Pfeifle and Abigail Grobmeier scored for RDC.

Sunday, the Queens were shutout 6-0 by the SAIT Trojans to fall to 1-3 on the season.

Saskatoon’s Lexi Kowalchuk was named the Queens Player-of-the-Game.

“Lexi is one of those players who gives 110 per cent,” says Queens Head Coach Esad Elkaz. “She always works hard and is positive with her teammates. I think that Lexi is a natural leader.”

The RDC Kings split their home matches over the weekend.

Friday, in dramatic fashion, the Kings defeated Olds 4-3, striking for three goals in three minutes.

Kaidri Bornyi, Gabriel Fleury de Queiroz, Nathan Swartz and Theo Gill scored for RDC.

“They just know they’re never out. We were down two goals and the guys on the field still felt like they were in,” says Kings Head Coach Wade Groenewegen. “That’s become part of us, which is good.”

Sunday, the Kings dropped a close 4-2 decision to the SAIT Trojans and are now 2-1-1 on the season.

Kaidri Bornyi and Damian Marah tallied for the Kings.

Lacombe’s Nathan Swartz was selected the Kings Player-of-the-Game, recording one assist in a gritty effort.
