Ponoka moving ahead with new economic development policy

Aug 22, 2019 | 1:50 PM

A new economic development strategy is on the way for the town of Ponoka.

The process will begin now through mid-September, which is when representatives from consulting firm MDB Insight will be phoning local businesses.

The calls will be for the purpose of assessing challenges and opportunities that exist for local business, and how business owners and managers view the community.

Calls should take no longer than 15 minutes and businesses will be selected on a random basis to participate.

“Creating a new Economic Development Strategy for Ponoka is a key priority for town council and administration because it will help us continue to set up our community for positive growth,” says CAO Albert Flootman.

“Increased economic development and growth is essential to helping ensure the long-term viability and sustainability of our community, and will help to further enhance the quality of life that our citizens enjoy in Ponoka.”

The new strategy is expected to take a number of months to craft.
