Man suffers serious injuries in downtown Ponoka assault

An aggravated assault in downtown Ponoka last week has resulted in a 22-year-old man facing multiple charges.

It happened on Aug. 13 at 7:47 p.m. when Mounties responded to a 911 call that an assault had just occurred downtown in Ponoka.

Police say the victim was located at a residence and found to be suffering serious, but not life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

RCMP say witness statements were taken and a search warrant conducted at a residence, revealing the suspect weapon and other evidence of the offence.
