WATCH: Red Deer emergency service workers kick off Sirens for Life campaign

Local RCMP, paramedics and firefighters want you to donate blood before the summer is done and gone.

The Sirens for Life campaign kicked off Friday at Canadian Blood Services’ clinic in north Red Deer. It runs through August 31.

According to Canadian Blood Services, just one person involved in a car crash could need as many as 50 blood donations to save their life.

The goal for this year’s Sirens for Life campaign is to collect 1,190 units of blood in the Red Deer area. They also hope to sign up 170 first-time donors.
